At a special joint meeting on Monday, April 18, the City Council and Planning Commission will receive an update on new State housing laws taking effect in 2022. In 2021, Governor Newsom signed 31 bills related to housing into law as part of the State’s multi-prong attempt to promote the development of new housing and increase the availability of affordable housing. The entire housing legislation package creates new, complex requirements for local agencies responsible for permitting housing. The joint meeting on Monday, April 18 will begin at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 5775 Carpinteria Ave.
Members of the public may attend the meeting or view the meeting live at www.carpinteria.ca.us, on Government Access Television Channel 21 or by logging into the Zoom webinar.
