The Library Advisory Commission (LAC) was established with the adoption of Ordinance No. 756 on June 13, 2022. The purpose of the LAC is to be the voice of the community to provide advice and feedback to the Library Board of Trustees and the City Librarian. The LAC is composed of five members representative of the library service area who are appointed by the Carpinteria Library Board of Trustees and serve two-year terms ending on January 31st of odd-numbered years. Commissioners receive a $30 stipend for each LAC meeting they attend. The Commission may also include a Youth Representative from the library service area and the Commission shall invite a liaison representative from the Friends of the Carpinteria Library, Friends of the Montecito Library, the City representative to the Santa Barbara County Library Advisory Committee, and a representative from the office of the County Board of Supervisors First District to attend regular meetings. Meetings of the Library Advisory Commission take place at the Carpinteria Community Library Community Meeting Room located at 5141 Carpinteria Avenue and are scheduled for the first Monday of each month at 3:30 pm. All meetings are open to the public.
