What’s New at the Library

Carpinterians, you’ll see lots of changes in coming weeks and months as Carpinteria Branch Library transitions to the Carpinteria Community Library.

We’re excited to announce that new Carpinteria Community Library cards are now available. To receive your card, visit the library at 5141 Carpinteria Ave. with a government-issued photo ID. This will allow you to preserve access to all the materials in Carpinteria, as well as the full catalog of materials from all six Black Gold libraries.

As preparations continue for the July 1 opening of the Carpinteria Community Library, there will be some interruptions to library access. The library will be closed from April 22-25 to begin renovations and improvements. After that, the Santa Barbara Public Library System will continue to operate the branch library with scaled back services: a smaller collection, no public computer stations, no large printer and no cash handling. This short-term inconvenience will allow the City of Carpinteria to create a space for the community and by the community!
