Zoning and Building Violations / Citations

The Municipal Code and the California Building Code provide regulations for the placement, construction and maintenance of all buildings throughout the City.  The Zoning regulations outline specific zone districts for commercial, residential and community centers.  When a violation exists, several code compliance tools are used to gain voluntary compliance.  If voluntary compliance is not gained, staff has the ability to issue Administrative Citations in the amount of $100, $200 or $500 per day for each day that the violation continues to exist.

Before you start construction or make repairs to a residential or commercial property, contact the Community Development Department to determine whether building permits and plans are required for your project.
