In honor of CommUnify’s long history and ongoing dedication to alleviating poverty, the Carpinteria City Council proclaimed May as Community Action Month and thanked CommUnify staff for its hard work and commitment ot the community. This month, CommUnify celebrates its 55th anniversary as a private nonprofit organization devoted to creating opportunities for families to achieve economic stability. Founded in 1967 as the Community Action Commission, the organization serves thousands of low-income residents of all ages throughout Santa Barbara County. Among its many programs, CommUnify offers prenatal services, high-quality childcare and preschool programs, medical and mental health screenings; parenting education workshops; and programs to keep seniors safe in their homes.
