Traffic light timing research to begin soon

This week, the City will take the first step toward timing traffic signals to optimize vehicular and pedestrian movement throughout Carpinteria. TKM Engineering, the City’s consultant traffic engineering firm, will begin conducting field investigations involving video cameras. The cameras will be temporarily mounted on power poles and street lights within the City’s public rights-of-way in order to count vehicles turning. Field investigations are tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 24.
