City Beach lifeguards swim away with another successful summer

Now that the summer season has come to an end and the lifeguard towers are locked up tight, we take a look back on activities at City Beach during the 2025 summer season. Our stellar lifeguarding staff ensured that thousands people enjoyed a healthy, happy beach experience. The largest category of incidents recorded were safety contacts, which reflects staff’s proactive prevention efforts. We thank our guards for another terrific summer!

Summer City Beach Statistics: June 16 – Sept. 1

  • Aquatic Rescues: 6
  • First Aid: 58 (mostly bee stings, scrapes, and cuts)
  • Lost Persons: 2 (both located safely)
  • Behavioral Issues: 5 cases requiring intervention
  • Safety Contacts: 325
  • Stingray Incidents: 38
  • Rock Injuries: 12
  • Major Incidents: 1 emergency requiring 9-1-1
