Making it easier for Carpinterians to divert organic waste from landfills, the City of Carpinteria is offering a free kitchen pail to help residents separate their food waste for composting. Carpinteria’s waste hauler, EJ Harrison & Sons, now composts food waste, which must be bagged separately and placed in yard bins. By using a kitchen pail, residents can separate dispose of food scraps and expired items in a small receptacle that fits under the kitchen sink. Please drop by City Hall, 5775 Carpinteria Ave., during normal business hours to pick up your free kitchen pail.
