Our next ABOP (Antifreeze, Batteries, Oil, Paint) Collection event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall, 5775 Carpinteria Ave. ABOPs normally are held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. In November and December, however, they are only held the second Saturday. In addition to free disposal of antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint, the City accepts up to three small household electronics (for example, microwaves or televisions), compact fluorescent lightbulbs, fluorescent light tubes (limit six) and mercury based thermostats. A maximum of 5 gallons of paint can be disposed of per visit.
