Funding for safety and accessibility improvements to the Franklin Creek Trail was recently approved by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. The project will receive Community Development Block Grant Funding totaling $570,000.
Improvements will include accessible surfacing, safety fencing and adjacent connection improvements along the east side of the trail between Carpinteria Avenue and Seventh Street. The Franklin Creek Trail Improvements project has been identified as a priority in the City of Carpinteria Capital Improvement Plan for many years. The trail serves as a route to Aliso Elementary School students and parents.
Funding for the planning and design phase of the project is also secured through two Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) Measure A grants totaling $275,000.
