City Council to meet Aug. 24

The Carpinteria City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. Members of the public may attend the meeting at City Hall, 5775 Carpinteria Ave., or view the meeting live at carpinteriaca.gov/, on Government Access Television Channel 21 or by logging into the Zoom webinar.

The following topics are highlights of the agenda. Additional details and numerous ways for the public to provide comments can be found at cityofcarp.co/agendas. Comments posted on social media will not be provided to council members.

  • Retirement Recognition for Michael Hickey, Part-Time Crossing Guard.
  • A Proclamation Recognizing and Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the California Coastal Act.
  • A Proclamation Honoring the Lynda Fairly Carpinteria Arts Center’s 25th Anniversary (2001-2026).
  • A Proclamation Designating August 21, 2026, as Senior Citizens Day in the City of Carpinteria.
  • Presentation by the Chrisman California Islands Center.
  • Presentation of the Carpinteria Community Pool Fundraiser Kickoff.
  • Approval of a City Naming Policy. The policy would establish consistent criteria and procedures for the naming or renaming of City-owned parks, facilities, open space areas, recreational amenities, and other eligible City Assets.
  • Approval of naming City-owned property commonly referred to as the Farmer Parcel the “Vera Bensen Bioswale.” The approximately 1.54-acre property is located north of Carpinteria Avenue and east of Bailard Avenue, across from the Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve and Viola Fields.
  • Approval of a Citywide Sponsorship Policy establishing consistent procedures for the solicitation, acceptance, administration, and recognition of sponsorships.
