A partial solar eclipse will take place this Saturday, Oct. 14, and Carpinteria Community Library can help you witness it! The library, located at 5141 Carpinteria Ave., has 200 pairs of eclipse glasses, and staff will hand out free pairs to members of the public until they run out. The eclipse is scheduled to peak at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, at which point 70 percent of the sun will be eclipsed by the moon. It is very dangerous to look directly at the sun, even during an eclipse. Please enjoy the rare celestial event safely by picking up a pair of glasses at the Carpinteria Community Library.
