At its May 23 meeting, the Carpinteria City Council proclaimed May as Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a time to recognize the significant contributions of members of this important community and to bring awareness to the violence and hatred that they have endured and continue to endure. Carpinteria’s history is intertwined with Asian American families who contributed to the early success of agriculture in the valley and helped to found the community and the City of Carpinteria.
