Where the mountains meet the sea, the small town of Carpinteria offers calm waters and a premiere location for youth to learn beach safety and competition in the Carpinteria Junior Lifeguard Program.

Requirements
- Must be 15 – 17 years old
- Must swim 500 yards in the pool in 10 minutes or less
- Complete an interview with the Program Coordinator
JG REGISTRATION
Registration Opens March 13th at 6pm
Jr Guards A: (Ages 14-17)
Jr Guards B: (Ages 12-13)
Jr Guards C: (Ages 9-11)
Mini Guards: (Ages 7-9)
TRYOUTS
Tryouts are required for new participants and returning participants moving from Mini’s to C’s
These will be conducted on Saturday mornings, beginning on February 7th and ending on March 7th.

Swim Test Junior Lifeguards (ages 9 – 16):
Tread – 1 minute
Underwater push-off (no stroke) for 5 yards
100-yard freestyle swim in under 2:20
Swim Test Mini-Guards (ages 7 – 9):
Tread – 1 minute
Underwater push-off (no stroke) for 5 yards
50-yard freestyle swim in under 1:30
If you’ll be visiting Carpinteria in the summer but live far away, you may be eligible to complete a remote swim test by submitting a video of your test from your home location. Please reach out to Lexi for more details about this option.
