Lost Pets
You’ve lost your pet. What should you do?
The more of the following you do the greater the chance you have of being reunited with your pet and being reunited quickly:
- Walk your neighborhood and ask neighbors
- Post a lost ad on Craigslist
- Post on Nextdoor
- Post on any appropriate local lost and found pet Facebook pages:
- Keep an eye on our site daily for any new animals that may have been brought in recently.
- Is your animal microchipped? Call the microchip company and confirm your contact information is up to date.
- Make sure the number on your animal’s tag is working! Is there room on your voicemail?

Found Pets
- Does the pet have a license or ID? Call/text the owner.
- Walk the pet around your neighborhood.
- Post a found ad on Craigslist
- Post on Nextdoor
- Post on any appropriate local lost and found pet Facebook pages:
- Take the pet to a veterinarian to scan for a microchip.
- If you are unable to reunite the pet with it’s owner, notify the City within 24 hours of finding it at (805) 684-5405.
