Marsh Tours: Sept. 21 & 28

Creek Week fun abounds!

On two consecutive Saturdays, Sept. 21 and 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, we’re offering a free docent tour to learn about how our creeks have created our salt marsh and created a home for many creatures.

Meet at the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park entrance across from the corners of Sandyland Road and Ash Avenue in Carpinteria.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!

On Sept. 9, the Carpinteria City Council voted unanimously to recognize Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in honor of people from Spanish-speaking countries, especially those of Latin America.

This proclamation highlights the many contributions Hispanics have made to Carpinteria, California and the country, and it promotes greater awareness of the rich history and culture of the Hispanic community.

It’s Library Card Sign-up Month

The City of Carpinteria has designated September as Library Card Sign-up Month and encouraged all residents to sign up for their own library card today. 

A library card empowers all people to explore new passions and interests, and libraries provide books, resources, programs and inclusive spaces to learn and explore.

Do you have a library card? If the answer is yes, bravo! If the answer is no, just head on over to Carpinteria Community Library where one of our wonderful staff members will help you get your very own library card!

Introducing Noah Alvara, Accounting Technician

We are excited to announce that Noah Alvara has joined the City of Carpinteria team as an accounting technician. Noah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from California State University at Northridge, and his experience in finance includes a successful internship with our Finance Department and seven years as a Lead Technician at CVS Pharmacy.

Outside of work, Noah enjoys painting, snowboarding and soccer. An Oxnard resident, Noah is still getting to know Carpinteria. He is impressed with our charming downtown and recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Lao Thai.

Council recognizes Celebrate Community Week

At its Sept. 9 meeting, the Carpinteria City Council awarded a proclamation designating September 8 – 14 as Celebrate Community Week to recognize the hardworking efforts Carpinteria service organizations provide the community. In recognition of Celebrate Community Week, local service organizations are planning to partner on projects related to health and wellness, food insecurity and hunger, education and literacy, and the environment. As pictured here, Carpinteria Rotary Club representatives attended the Council meeting and accepted the proclamation.

Introducing Ryan Benson, Management Analyst

We are thrilled to welcome Ryan Benson as the City of Carpinteria’s new Management Analyst. Ryan has been a valuable part of our team for the past six months, working as a Management Intern. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles and recently completed his Master’s degree in Business Administration from California Lutheran University. Before his internship at the City, he worked as a Systems Engineer for the Department of the Navy. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys cooking, swimming, and playing the guitar.
