Requirements

    • Minimum age: 16 years old

    • Swim Test: 500-yard continuous swim

    • Hourly wage: $22.16 – $26.93 per hour

    • Successful completion of required trainings and certifications (provided at no cost to qualified applicants)

    • Availability for training weekends: April 24-26, May 1-3, and May 15-17 2026

    • Minimum Age: 15 years old

    • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification

    • Hourly wage: $21.10 – $25.65 per hour

    • Successful completion of required trainings and certifications (provided at no cost to qualified applicants)

    • Availability for training weekends: April 4-5, April 11-12, and June 6-7

1. Swim Test

Beach Guards must pass a 500 yard continuous swim.

Swim Tests will be held at the Carpinteria Community Pool.

Pool guard applicants must pass a 300 yard swim test at the Carpinteria Community Pool.

2. Interviews

After passing the swim test, applicants may be scheduled for an in person interview with Aquatics staff

3. Paperwork

After receiving conditional offer, applicants must complete and submit a formal application and hiring paperwork before attending training.

4. Training & Certification

Applicants must attend one of the Rookie Training Weekends March 14-16 OR April 11-13 and successfully complete requirements for certification.

A final, mandatory all-staff training will be held May 15-May 17. Complete attendance of all trainings is required.

Applicants must attend the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course, which will take place on April 4-5, and April 11-12 and an all-staff training June 6-7.
