Local author Christian Beamish’s book “The Voyage of the Cormorant” is the Carpinteria Community Library’s pick for this summer’s community read, which encourages community members to read the same book to spark conversation and discussion. “The Voyage of the Cormorant” follows author Beamish on his journey along the remote coast of Baja California in a handmade sailboat. The community is invited to attend a free book discussion with the author on Sunday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. at the library, 5141 Carpinteria Ave. The library will also hold two book discussions: one on Friday, Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. and the second on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. Thanks to the Friends of the Carpinteria Library, giveaway books may be picked up at the library. The book is also available on the Libby platform in ebook and audiobook formats.
