At its March 25 meeting, the Carpinteria City Council recognized the Carpinteria Community Awards Banquet’s long history of honoring local heroes. The event, which turns 65 this year, will take place on evening of Saturday, April 6 at Girls Inc. of Carpinteria. Local businesses, educators, volunteers and outstanding youth will be honored. The highlight? The Carpinterian of the Year award, bestowed upon a person who exemplifies the spirit of Carpinteria. This year’s event will be held by the newly-formed Carpinteria Community Association and catered by Rincon Beach Club Catering. Tickets must be purchased by March 29.
