Rotary Talent Showcase celebrates 15 years!

The Carpinteria City Council congratulates the Rotary Club of Carpinteria on the 15th anniversary of the Talent Showcase and commends it for the years of providing music programs and instruments to the youth in the Carpinteria Community.

The Rotary Club of Carpinteria’s Talent Showcase has become a beloved tradition, starting in 2010 with just one performance at the Boys & Girls Club. Led by David Powdrell, Roland Rotz, and Ryan Nakasone, the event quickly grew, moving to the prestigious Alcazar Theatre in 2011 and adding a second show. Over the years, the Showcase has featured over 980 performers – a vibrant mix of singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and school music groups.

Thanks to funds raised by the Showcase, the Rotary has donated $200,000 toward Carpinteria Unified School District’s music programs, providing new instruments, scholarships and even trips to the symphony.

Their efforts now extend beyond music education, with the addition of college scholarships and community grants for arts, athletics and theater programs. The 15th Annual Talent Showcase on April 20, 2024, promises to be another exciting celebration of Carpinteria’s talent and the Rotary Club’s enduring commitment to our community.
