Public comment extended for Chevron decommissioning project’s Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR)

The public comment period has been extended to Jan. 31 for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) released for Chevron’s decommissioning project. Chevron is working to secure permits to decommission and remediate its Carpinteria Oil and Gas Processing Facility. The Decommissioning Project would demolish and remove surface and subsurface facilities and then remediate impacted soils and groundwater at the onshore Carpinteria Oil and Gas Processing Facility, located on Dump Road. The project also includes the demolition and removal of offshore pipelines associated with the facility located within State Waters. The Draft EIR describes the proposed project, identifies its potential environmental effects and proposed mitigation measures, and considers possible project alternatives.

The City will be accepting public comments on the adequacy of the Draft EIR until Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. To review the Draft and/or submit a comment, visit https://bit.ly/41sLmWw .
